The Knossos Area, 1974–1976

Although there has been no major programme of excavation at Knossos since Messrs M. R. Popham and L. H. Sackett, on the one hand, completed their four year programme on the Unexplored Mansion in 1972 {AR1972-73 50-71) and Professor P. Warren concluded his investigations on the south side of the Royal Road in the same year (AR 1972-73 26-29), the British School at Athens has continued active field research in the Knossos area in collaboration with the Greek Archaeological Service. The School has been requested to investigate ancient remains brought to light by development work of one kind or another at twenty different points in the greater Knossos region (see Area Plan, Fig. 1) since the beginning of 1974.
