Dynamical modelling and control of large-scale systems

Abstract The problems of dynamical modelling of large-scale systems are considered with a view to developing reduced-order models using aggregation and decoupling. The nature of the information structure in such systems is described, and methods of development of control strategies for such systems, including multilevel, multilayer, decentralized pole placement and decentralized stochastic controllers, are surveyed. The relevance of the methods to power systems problems is discussed.
