무릎 상해 개선을 위한 운전석 Knee bolster system 최적화에 대한 연구

Knee bolster system in passenger vehicle driver side cockpit consists of reinforcement panel and brackets which are connected to cowl cross member and plays an important role in improving crash dummy behavior and femur injury. For example, it distributes dummy kinetic energy to both femurs and prevent dummy from sliding below lower crash pad. To design optimized knee bolster system, we have to consider coverage zone of reinforcement panel, reinforcement panel angle, bracket shape, and so on. In this study, knee bolster systems of four vehicle platforms were investigated as a case study. The inner package of lower panel was examined and the results of sled and barrier test were analyzed to present design guideline of knee bolster system.
