Comparative EMF monitoring campaign over the campus area of the University of Novi Sad

The number of artificial electromagnetic fields (EMF) sources is continuously growing due to pronounced technological development in a last few decades. Increased amount of this kind of the non-ionizing radiation in the environment is accompanied with the population fear about possible negative health effects due to exposure. Therefore, EMF level measurements in the highly sensitive areas, like as University campuses, are being performed. The initial monitoring campaign over the University of Novi Sad campus area was carried out during 2012, over ten carefully selected locations. With the objective to investigate new situations and compare the measurement results, the newest monitoring campaign was performed during 2018. Recently acquired results indicate to a slight increase of the electric field strength values, as well as population exposure, at all ten locations. Despite that increase, the electric field strength values are still much lower than the prescribed reference levels. The performed comparative analysis confirmed that campus area can be considered as a zone with low EMF pollution.
