Application of the automatic remeshing to the moving geometries in forging processes

Abstract The paper presents the automatic remeshing procedure for the FEM analysis of a forging process, whenever occurs a problem of an internal boundary inside the forged piece. The algorithm of the remeshing procedure is based on the general idea presented in the work [1]. The remeshing generator was then implemented into the FORGE2 finite element code for the thermo-mechanical simulation of forging processes. The presented results of the analysis of industrial forging technology show the possibility of the analysis of overlapping problems, causing different defects of final products. Moreover, it allows to control the overlapping effects and to improve the forging technology by elimination of those defects.
