The Black Athena Debate

Abstract This bibliography introduces sources composing the Black Athena debate, which is now in its seventeenth year. Issues in the debate include not only the origins of Western civilization and its history, but legitimacy of scholarship, historical methodology, racism, and ethnocentrism. Libraries will want to include the major sources not only for their intrinsic scholarship, but also as an illustrative example of a colorful, multifaceted, scholarly argument.
