Research on China Highway Operating Speed System and Engineering Application Technology

In order to create China highway operating speed theory,method and technology system to improve highway safety design standards,based on observation,experiment and accident investigation in 20 provinces nationwide,35 expressways and the first class highways, 39 second class highways and the following two-lane highway data collection for 10 years,the relations between highway safety and highway traffic characteristics,speed characteristics were studied.Regarded highway,the first class highways and two-lane highways as subjects,using theoretical analysis,numerical calculation,indoor simulation tests,observation and implementation of physical works and vehicle field test,authors revealed the highway operating speed characteristics and rules of our country,proposed the representative vehicle classification standard of highway operating speed models in line with the highway traffic characteristics of our country,established the operating speed models at all levels of highway and key sections, innovatively integrated comprehensive highways geometry safety evaluation,highways alignment safety design,highway speed control,integrated engineering applications and related standards, indicator system.Result shows that research outcome fills the research gaps of application model of highway operating speed,and speed control design theory and can provide reference for highway safety design,evaluation and scientific speed control.
