Advanced facilities for remote performance and QoS analysis of communication applications

This paper is focused on functional aspects and practical experience with a new communication toolset (CM-Toolbox) offering advanced facilities for remote performance and quality of service (QoS) analysis of communication applications. The key point are features intended to support the emerging requirements of multimedia applications and advanced communication technologies for performance and traffic analysis. Such features include management of network scenarios and application test suites on remote hosts, provision of a standard set of communication applications, their bundling and configuration using traffic and flow control parameters, QoS measurement and testing functions. The QoS testing based on selection of measurement points and specification of QoS evaluations dependent on the application specifics and user demands is addressed. The use of these facilities for flexible QoS and performance test of applications is discussed and illustrated using practical experiments.
