The experimental analysis of cavitating structure fluctuations and pressure pulsations in the cavitation station

The experimental analysis of unsteady cavitating flow structures has been performed in the cavitation station in order to evaluate and correlate the static pressure measurements with the cavitation cloud structure dynamics which was quantified using the computer aided visualization technique. The paper describes the experimental method and presents the results of the investigation of the unsteady cavitation flow field, performed in the wake of bluff body. Comparison of the static pressure oscillation and cavitation cloud structures fluctuation caused by cloud shedding in the wake of bluff body, show the interaction between signals. The detailed analysis confirms two distinct types of flow pulses and quantifies the effect of cavitation number on the strength of the pressure and structure pulses.
