Differential and Impedance Protection Using Digital Computers

Abstract A digital protection algorithm for the protection of generators, transformers and transmission lines is proposed. The algorithm is based on a direct correlation between a pair of signals suitably selected for a particular application. The algorithm offers low computational effort and is thus suitable for implementation using microprocessors. Real-time laboratory test results indicate the scheme to be secure and fast.
