Antiurolithiatic Activity of Salix taxifolia Aqueous Extract

The aqueous extract of the bark of Salix taxifolia was tested for antilithiatic and diuretic activities. Urolithiasis was experimentally induced by implantation of a zinc disc in the urinary bladder of rats. A significant decrease in the weight of the stones was observed after treatment in animals with the aqueous extract. This extract caused an increase in the 24h urine volume.
