Effect of Trated Sewage Sludge on Growth, Yield and Quality of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench)

Different doses of treated sewage sludge alone and along with different combinations of NPK rec. and Azotobactor used in okra at Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi to study the their effect on growth, yield and quality. Results clearly reveals that in general application of different doses of treated Sewage Sludge alone and in combinations with different ratio of recommended dose of NPK and Azotobactor significantly increases the plant growth, fruit yield and quality of okra compared to the control. The maximum plant height, number of leaves, length of internodes, number of nodes, number of branches, number of fruits, fruit length, fruit width, fruit size, average fruit weight, yield, vitamin ‘c’, carbohydrates and protein content was recorded under treatment T9 (Sewage Sludge @ 5.0 t + 1/2 NPK rec. + Azotobactor) followed by T8 (Sewage Sludge @2.5 t + 3/4 NPK rec. + Azotobactor).
