Effect of Teacher's Gaze on Children's Story Recall

Two studies utilize a repeated-measures design to compare the story-recall performances of 46 primary-school children who were administered stories in the presence and absence of teacher's gaze. Analysis indicates a significant positive relationship between gaze and recall, especially among boys. These findings are discussed in terms of the literature on the effects of eye contact and teacher's expectancies.
