Contrasting perspectives on the relationship between teaching and research

Empirical support for three contrasting perspectives on the relationship between teaching and research—Null, Conflict, and Complementarity—is assessed. Both the Null and Complementarity perspectives receive modest affirmation, whereas the Conflict perspective garners scant support.
