Transforming didactic conferences with live technology‐facilitated crowdsourcing

Our author team frequently lectures together at professional society conferences, where we often observe little audience engagement during didactic sessions. Conference attendees generally include individuals with expertise in many domains, whose combined knowledge and experience is a valuable resource. To capitalise on collective wisdom, we now crowdsource best practices from the audience during our presentations using free web-based tools. This paper describes how we use technology to facilitate live conversations with audience members during didactic conferences and to share co-created lecture notes.
