ADAPTIVE PREDICTORS FOR CARRIER JITTER SUPPRESSION IN HIGHLY EFFICIENT DIGITAL MODEMS.

The problem of carrier jitter suppression in QAM systems with dense constellations is outlined. The non stationary nature of the phase error measurements and the high sensibility to phase inaccuracy of that systems complicate the design. Two approach are study: First a FIR ALE (Adaptive Line Enhancer) is considered. We show that this is not a good alternative even if we use our acknowledge of the non-stationary nature of the phase noise measurements. An IIR ALE is then proposed as a good compromise between results and complexity.
