One Measurement Method of Thermal Resistance of IGBT

When IGBT is operating,it generates a lot of heat,which affect its reliability,and the surrounding circuits,reduce the performance of whole system.Therefore,it’s very important to measure the thermal resistance and temperature rise accurately.This paper describes the measurement principle based on the electrical measurement method for thermal resistance and temperature rise of IGBT,chooses the voltage between collector and emitter with con-stant current and gate-collector short as heat-sensitive parameter,it also shows the measurement process and results.To be compared with infrared measurements,this method has the advantages of simple structure and good measurement repro-ducibility,so it can be performed to measure thermal resistance and temperature rise of IGBT as measurement method.
