Teaching Operations Research Using “Home Made” Software

This paper presents a software package we developed for teaching operations research (understood in the broad sense of decision support methods) to students in engineering, computer science, economics and management science. The present version of the package includes three main modules: Basic Optimization Methods, Advanced Multiple Criteria Decision Support, and Decision Support Systems. Special attention is paid to the development of a user-friendly man-machine interface which is easy to use and intuitive to learn. The modules of the package will be described and some examples will be presented for illustrating the use of the programs.
