Performance Evaluation of DSDV, DSR, OLSR, TORA Routing Protocols – A Review

Mobile ad Hoc networks (MANETs) can make dynamic changes in topology. The most realistic characteristic which differentiates MANETs from other networks is that it is capable of changing its location. Different routing algorithms are used while maximizing packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput and minimizing end to end delay, routing load to improve the performance. Maximum PDR and throughput gives best performance. This review paper describes the performance of the four routing protocols in case of change in traffic, no. of nodes and node mobility. The routing protocols include Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), Optimized Link State Routing Algorithm (OLSR) and Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm (TORA).
