Synthesis and biological activities of 2-Pyrimidinone Nucleosides. III.1,2 5-Alkynyl-2-Pyrimidinone 2′-Deoxyribosides

Abstract The syntheses of 5-ethynyl-, 5-phenylethynyl- and 5-propynyl-2(1H)-pyrimidinone 2′-deoxyribosides are described. Two of the new nucleosides, 14 a and 14 c, showed significant antiviral activities against HSV-1 and HSV-2 in tissue culture.
