Effects Of Contact Pressure And Slip Amplitude OnFretting Fatigue Properties Of Rail Steel With FishPlate

Fretting fatigue properties of rail steel and fish plate was examained by clamping contact double pads system. In order to investigate effects of a contact pressure and a relative slip amplitude on the fretting fatigue pro;>erties, the tests were carried out under conditions of three contact pressure and also three pad lengths. Fatigue strength reduced with increasing the. contact pressure and also the slip amplitude , and reduction of the fretting fatigue strength was about 44 - 38% to the plain fatigue strength. The fretting wear damage on the contact surface became more remarkable with increasing the slip amplitude.
