3rd International Workshop on Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is emerging as a new computational model in which software is hosted, run and administered in large web data centers, and provided as a service over the web. In general, is well accepted that the cloud will provide three types of services, organized in layers. The first layer of the cloud will provide Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in which raw computing services such as CPU, storage and network bandwidth are requested, reserved and used over the web using a pay per usage model. These services can be consumed by an end user in need of resources or by an upper layer of the cloud, Platform as a Service (PaaS). PaaS offers a higher level of services, including web servers, data servers, etc. In general it offers a platform for deploying classes of applications such as web and transactional applications. The third layer of the cloud is Software as a Service (SaaS) that provides end user applications and services. E-commerce applications, CRM, ERP or generic and reusable services are example of SaaS.
