Other-cell interference in CDMA systems

Using simulation and modelling, the other-cell interference factor for CDMA systems is obtained. Situations with tiers of neighbouring cells are investigated under various propagation parameters and for two scenarios, when the mobile chooses as home cell the nearest base station, and when it chooses the base station with the strongest signal. The results presented indicate that in most situations the other-cell interference factor is significantly less than the upper bounds result previously published. It was found sufficient to compare the signal strength of three neighbouring cells in order to select the home cell.
