Research on loss of high speed permanent magnet synchronous motor for flywheel energy storage

As advantages of high energy density and large instantaneous power, flywheel energy storage is very promising energy storage technology in recent years. High-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (HSPMSM) with low loss and high efficiency is one of the crucial components of flywheel energy storage (FES), and Loss calculation is crucial to designing high-speed PMSM. In this paper, a 30 kW, 96000 rpm HSPMSM is designed and analyzed. The copper loss, iron loss, rotor eddy current loss, mechanical loss, wind driven loss are detailedly analyzed and calculated.
