The dynamic performance of the stitched catenary and the DSA250 pantograph is analyzed. The finite element models of the pantograph and the catenary are established, regarding the pan-head of the pantograph as an elastic body.Furthermore,on the basis of the contact element, the coupled motion equation of the pantograph-catenary system is derived and solved.Subsequently a comparison with the spring-mass system pantograph model is made. The results show as follows: With the elastic pan-head model, the contact loss can not be detected until the speed reaches higher than 230 km/h;the quality of current collection presents a different trend on the two collectors, the front collector appears to be better than the rear collector;considering the interaction frequency being higher than the typical frequency band of 20 Hz,the components of high frequencies from 40 Hz to 100 Hz appear extremely evident and the deformable modes of the pan-head have important influence on the dynamic performance between the pantograph and catenary;if the spring-mass model of pantograph is used, there will be obvious differences with the elastic pantograph model in the calculation results due to lacking of the modes at high frequencies.
