Performance of a series-parallel resonant DC/DC converter configured around an inductor-transformer utilizing transformer magnetics

A series-parallel resonant DC/DC converter topology has been realized by properly considering all the inductances associated with an inductor-transformer. Thus the converter requires only an additional capacitor. Again, for half-bridge topology the capacitors used for input voltage splitting, may also be used as the resonating capacitor. Details of the inductor-transformer design and performance of the converter have been discussed along with the optimization aspects. A controller is also fabricated and the converter is found to control output voltage with a very small change in operating frequency. The topology is very promising particularly in small power applications.
