Performance analysis of asynchronous MC-CDMA systems with a cyclic prefix

Asynchronous multicarrier-code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems employing a cyclic prefix for the uplink in a multipath fading channel are analyzed. The uncoded bit-error rate performance of the system is obtained. Derived analysis and simulation results show that the guard period is required for MC-CDMA systems in order to mitigate intersymbol interference (ISI) and the performance of asynchronous MC-CDMA systems is sensitive to the correlation among the sub-carriers.
