Ontology Construction Method and Its Application in Oracle Bone Inscriptions

The biggest issue for the information scientists is that they highly depend on OBI(oracle bone inscriptions) experts when they dealing with OBI digitization.OBI experts mainly depend on their experience and knowledge to identify and understand OBI,but these experience are only stored in the minds of the experts,and it is not easy to share these experience and knowledge.Ontology technology was proposed to support sharing and reusing the OBI knowledge.An ontology construction model named "two-way active hinge method" was proposed and a small OBI ontology was built by using this model.Based on "seven steps method" and Hownet,detail steps of OBI ontology construction were described.Applications of OBI ontology such as optimized information retrieval and knowledge reasoning were instructed.The results show that the proposed OBI ontology construction method is feasible and effective.
