Study of commutation phenomena and faults in a system consisting of a synchronous generator and a controlled rectifier

The effect of the system parameters on the commutation phenomena in a system consisting of a synchronous generator, a controlled rectifier and a DC load is being studied in detail. Furthermore, the behaviour of the system in cases of failure of ignition and short circuit of a controlled semiconducting element, is being investigated. The system under study was simulated by a method appropriate for the simulation of variable topology networks.
