Decision support system for the composition of the examination problem

Abstract This paper considers an educational decision problem, which is to compose an examination problem by utilizing the information of test results and selecting one question from each field. The alternatives, that is, the combinations of questions, are enumerated so as to hit given targets of the appropriateness of questions, the correct answer rate, and the distribution of difficulty. This problem is formulated as a target problem which is defined newly in this paper. Some alternatives are found with the branch and bound method. The best or optimal combination is presented among the alternatives with the analytic hierarchy process. This procedure is constructed as decision support system.
