Why the ‘Toxic’ University? A Case of Two Very Different Academics

This chapter looks at the ‘official’ and ‘hidden’ transcripts of how neoliberalism is experienced in universities by considering the cases of two academics, who have responded quite differently to the neoliberal agenda being visited upon universities. It shows how academic work is being hollowed out through a process of identity theft, to the point where universities are being emptied of their souls.
