Lupus Erythematosus like Tinea Capitis caused by Trichophyton Tonsurans

Summary: Tinea capitis and tinea facei resembling chronic discoid lupus erythematosus (CDLE) caused by Trichophyton tonsurans in an adult female is described. Tinea corporis of the waist resembling lichen planus (LP) and tinea unguium due to the same organism were also observed in her. Hypopituitrism was the associated disease and long‐term oral griseofulvin and topical miconazole followed by econazole cream were necessary to eradicate the disease. The possibility of dermatophytosis should be kept in mind in cases of clinically diagnosed CDLE and LP in the tropics.
