Dynamic Simulation oftheTransverse FluxMachine using Linear ModelandFinite Element Method

com Abstract -Basically, there aretwodevelopments inthefield of transverse fluxmachines, without orwithpermanent magnets asexcitation. Since themainfeature oftransverse fluxmachine isthehighthrust forcedensity, thelinear motortopology including alsopermanent magnetsasexcitation isthemost promising one.Becausethetransverse fluxmachineflux pattern iscomplicate duetothenonlinearities introduced bythe ironcoresaturation andpermanent magnetoperating point, the system analysis isnotpossible byusing exactanalytical relation. Therefore, thefluxlinkage andthrust force mustbecomputed via3D-nonlinear Finite ElementMethod-FEM, including the obtained results intothelinear motorbasemodelusing SIMULINK.Tohaveamorerealistic approach oftheoverall drivesystem, thiswayisproposed inthepaperfordynamic simulation. Thedynamic simulation ofthetwokindoflinear motorsispresented, inordertodemonstrate theadvantage of theproposed transverse fluxlinear motorincluding permanent magnets overtheelectrically excited one,aswell. Thecompared results ofdynamic simulation areveryuseful forstudying and analyzing different control methods thatcanbeapproached for linear motors. Thesimulation results showthegooddynamics andhighaccuracy ofthesystem model.
