‘Family first’ policy in Hungary: boosting native population without relying on mass migration

This article mainly targets the family policy measures, initiated by the Hungarian government in early 2019, and it discusses their potential outcome with re-gard to the social conditions in Hungary. The focus point of the social (family) policies has been to stop the population decline and if feasible to reverse the trend. This article first lists the newly announced family protection action plan, then it looks into the different framings of their possible effects on the fertility rate, other population trends and the elements linking the measures to other policies.
