A Human Factors Perspective on Safety Management Systems

The purpose of this paper is to discuss a method of framing some of the Human Factors issues associated with the Safety Management Systems approach, and to investigate some of the barriers and opportunities in using Human Factors Methods to enhance the functioning of a Safety Management System within safety-related industries.
