Task sequence planning

The first step in planning is to generate basic data on how the assembly task can be performed and what equipment can be used to perform the task. The objective of this step is to identify a set of feasible solutions for the operation sequence plan and equipment selection. The results are stored in a relational database which can be accessed by the next planning step, where detailed planning will define the actual devices to be employed and the initial layout of the assembly workcell. Since the planning procedure [1] is iterative, the results of component selection and layout planning may be fed back to task sequence planning and cause replanning.
