Accreditation and Evaluation of Programs: The Canadian Perspective

The process of accreditation is designed to assist in the quality assurance and improvement of training programs. The process that is used for accreditation of specialty and subspecialty training programs in Canada is described, with particular reference to diagnostic radiology. The advantages of having a standardized process across multiple specialties, with deliberate specialty-specific input are outlined. Challenges are outlined for future improvement in the accreditation process.
