Publisher Summary Household electrical appliances consume a significant amount of electricity in the domestic sector of Malaysia and have become a target for efficiency improvement. Like other developing countries in southeast Asia, Malaysia is experiencing a dramatic growth in the number of household electrical appliances usage and it will be higher in the future. This chapter attempts to identify energy saving possibilities by implementing energy efficiency standards for selected household appliances. As such, efficiency improvement on these appliances will give a significant impact on future electricity consumption in the country. In the improving household appliances efficiency, a new infrastructure has to be created by government to be able to design and implement minimum energy efficiency standards. The establishment of a working relationship between the industry and the government is crucial. Many countries provide guidance and information about correlation between government and industry.
