Prominent critics such as Sumansky (1986) and Siegfried and Fels (1979) have commented on the infatuation with technology and the lack of utility to instructors when computers were used in teaching economics. However, Schenk and Silva (1984, pp. 240-42) argue that the poor results pointed to by the critics of Computer Aided Instruction ~CAI) may be caused by improperly designed computer materials and/or unproductive use of the computer programs.
