The Psychodynamics of Small Group Transformation

A psychodynamic theory of transformational processes surrounding focal issues in small groups is presented. The discussion focuses on describing a model of second-order changes in small groups and the underlying psychodynamics. Overt and covert intellectual and emotional issues in each of four transformational phases (hanging-on, working-through, letting-go, and moving-on) are analyzed. A researchable proposition derivable from the model is outlined.
