MQFD and its receptivity analysis in an Indian electronic switches manufacturing company

One of the maintenance models that have witnessed wider application is Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The majority of TPM principles have been developed by linking Total Quality Management (TQM) and maintenance engineering principles. In the field of TQM, Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is an ideal tool for translating customers' vague languages into technical specifications. On foreseeing the synergic impact of infusing QFD in TPM projects, a model called Maintenance Quality Function Deployment (MQFD) is proposed in this paper. MQFD links TPM and QFD principles. Its implementation feasibility was examined in a TQM- and TPM-cultured Indian electronic switches manufacturing company through questionnaire-supported feedback collection approach. The results of this study provided very important findings, which will direct the future researchers towards the successful implementation of MQFD and reaping the synergic effect of TPM and QFD.
