The present invention relates to a method, equipment and a system for obtaining user equipment information. The method comprises: querying a user equipment information database, and obtaining user equipment information corresponding to an equipment type allocation code of a user equipment; and sending the user equipment information to a video buffer and optimization network element. The method can effectively provide the user equipment information for the video buffer and optimization network element in a uniform and reliable manner, thereby solving the problem in the prior art that the user equipment cannot effectively provide the user equipment information for the video buffer and optimization network element as the user equipment has no user equipment information reporting capability or has a weak user equipment information reporting capability.
