Mold insert assembly and method of casting

Embodiments of a mold insert assembly and method of application are disclosed herein. A mold insert assembly includes, but is not limited to, a drive means which moves between a retracted position and an extended position, a plurality of Erstsegmentbauteilen which grip the drive means and moving between a retracted first position and a first extended position and a plurality of second segment components in the vicinity of the plurality of Erstsegmentbauteilen formed in order to move between a second retracted position and a second extended position when said drive means moves to the extended position. The plurality of Erstsegmentbauteilen and second segment components cooperate to form a substantially fluid-tight periphery, when the drive means is in the extended position. The plurality of Erstsegmentbauteilen and second segment components are adapted to respectively move toward the first and second retracted position when the driving means moves toward the retracted position.
