ABSTRACT This paper presents current respirometric methods for general biologicalcontrol using techniques developed for application in wastewatertreatment, particularly for the control of the activated sludge process. It also presents recent developments of this method for application intreatment systems of Constructed Wetlands. New methods developedin the Engineering Laboratory (Lisa) at the University of Trento(Italy) are described. The methods use two distinct lab methodologiesfor respirometry application in Constructed Wetlands. The first onecharacterizes soil bacteriological activity measuring O 2 concentrationin the gaseous phase and the other one measures O 2 concentration inwatery phase.KEYWORDS: Respirometry, constructed wetland, activated sludge;biological processes.
