Harmonic adaptability remote testing based on SAPF for offshore wind turbines

This paper introduces the harmonic adaptability testing for grid-connected wind turbines and its necessity firstly. After analyzing the submarine cable impacts on harmonic adaptability remote testing for offshore wind turbines (OWTs), a testing method based on harmonic compensation is put forward to eliminate the impacts. The distortion of specific integer harmonic at the high voltage side of the offshore wind turbine transformer is detected based on instantaneous reactive power method. Series active power filter (SAPF) is used to compensate the distortion deviation to guarantee that the voltage distortion is compatible with the testing standards requirement. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results.
