Depression Education for Primary Care Patients Using a Web-based Program

Lack of knowledge and stigmatization of psychiatric disorders constitutes a significant problem for patients and for mental health service. Depression represents an especially significant problem because it is so widespread and often gets unrecognized both by patients and by doctors. Different kinds of interventions can be used to educate people about depression. Focused, web-based, educational interventions, which may be a cost-effective tool to educate primary care patients, have not yet been thoroughly studied. We designed our pilot study to investigate the effectiveness, feasibility, and future directions for improvement of a web-based depression education tool for primary care patients.
