Testing and Improvements of Gamma-Ray Strength Functions for Nuclear Model Calculations

The dependence of the gamma-decay and photoabsorption dipole strength functions on the excitation energy, gamma-ray energy and mass number is studied within framework of the closed-form model with the microcanonical ensemble for initial states. The approach covers relatively wide gamma-ray energy interval, ranging from zero to the values above the GDR energy and gives a rather accurate tool for simultaneous description of the gamma-decay and photoabsorption strength functions in the medium and heavy nuclei.
