Creating a scientific community at the interface between engineering design and AI: a workshop report

ABSTRACT On January 13-14, 1990, a workshop was held to discuss the topic of creating a scientific community at the interface between engineering design and AI, in order to identify problems and methods in the area that would facilitate the transfer and reuse of results. This report summarizes the workshop and followup sessions and identifies major trends in the field. This workshop was supported by the Engineering Design Research Center, an NSF Engineering Research Center.
