A blind adaptive decorrelating Rake receiver for CDMA communications over frequency-selective fading channels

Multiple access interference(MAI) is a key problem in DS-CDMA systems. Multiuser detection method and Rake receiver have been introduced to reduce the effect of MAI and multipath respectively. In this paper, a blind adaptive decorrelating Rake receiver based on the Kalman filter is proposed. The salient features of the receiver are that it doesn't require training sequences and estimate the fading parameters in advance. With numerical simulations and performance analysis, it is shown that the receiver precedes the conventional receiver, conventional Rake receiver and blind adaptive decorrelating Rake receiver based on LMS in eliminating MAI and "near-far" resistance. Furthermore, the receiver can converge at the steady state rapidly.
