Wearable Technology: Summary

The last chapter is an extended summary that presents results of a study related to the current usages of wearable technologies as well as final conclusions and outline of possible future trends. It is supported by a survey study with mostly open questions covering a range of issues related to practices of self-tracking and how their penetrate individual’s private and professional life. The survey is serving as a tool to envisage changes in the tracking communities and tracker usage and it is a pathway for an analysis of the newest types of tracking and how they contribute to organizational life. It includes kinds of wearable devices used, habits in tracking, reasons for tracking, observed and anticipated dangers, as well as the sense of belonging to a tracking community like Quantified Self. The survey leads to interesting conclusions on how these practices have changed over time and how they may change in the near future.
